ABOUT JING SHAO NIAN
Welcome to Jing Shao Nian (京少年), where Peking and Cantonese Opera come alive for 5th to 7th graders, led by youths themselves. Our programs introduce children to the rich world of Chinese Opera.
Participants delve into the roles of performers, learning singing techniques, stage movements, martial arts, and more. They also get hands-on experience behind the scenes, attending historical lectures, mastering makeup and costuming, and contributing to the creation of vibrant murals.
Our journey culminates in performances for senior citizens and a grand finale—an original opera produced and performed entirely by the kids themselves.
